Amy Winehouse leaves rehab to visit U.S. Embassy for visa

Amy Winehouse RibenaTroubled singer Amy Winehouse briefly left rehab this afternoon - for a trip to the American Embassy in London to discuss obtaining a visa.

The 24-year-old 'Back to Black' star - who checked into rehab last month, was accompanied by her father Mitch and a nurse.

The singer is set to perform at the Grammy Awards, where she is nominated for six awards, in Los Angeles on Sunday.

But Winehouse's rep said "no decision" had been made about the appearance.

"The appointment at the US Embassy was made some time ago and was part of process for obtaining a visa," he said.

"Amy was accompanied by a nurse as the appointment was under supervision. She has not left rehab and remains under the care of the clinic."

On Jan. 24, Winehouse was admitted to the Capio Nightingale clinic in north London. Only days before, a video surfaced that purportedly showed her smoking crack cocaine, which is what will likely impede her visa application.

In addition, in October she was arrested and fined in Norway for possession of cannabis, a claim she intends to appeal this month in a Norwegian court.
