Grieving Michelle Williams arrived in Heath Ledger's hometown of Perth, Australia, accompanied by her two-year-old daughter Matilda on Wednesday afternoon local time for the tragic actor's funeral. Williams, sporting a black dress and black sunglasses, clutched daughter Matilda in her arms as they made their way from the plane under heavy security. Matilda clung to a stuffed rabbit as more than five police officers and airport security escorted them into an elevator.
Michelle's arrival in Perth comes one day after Ledger's family, including father Kim, mother Sally and sister Kate all returned home. A private funeral for the actor – who was found dead in his Downtown Manhattan apartment Jan. 22 at the age of 28 – is expected in the next few days. Toxicology results are also expected to be released any day now.
Although Williams and Ledger - who met while filming Brokeback Mountain - split last September, the two remained bonded by love for their daughter. In a statement released after his death, the devastated actress said, "My heart is broken."
