Lenny Kravitz hospitalised with severe bronchitis

Lenny KravitzRocker Lenny Kravitz has been rushed to an emergency room suffering from "severe bronchitis".

The 43-year-old musician was taken to a hospital in Miami, Florida, weeks after contracting the influenza virus. His condition increasingly worsened, with a series of severe respiratory tract infections, until he developed the illness - which causes inflammation in the lungs.

In a statement, Kravitz' spokeswoman said: "Due to extreme dehydration and fatigue, doctors were unable to control it with outpatient treatment and advised the singer to check into the hospital."

Although it is unclear how long he will be treated for, Kravitz has already postponed a trip to Europe to promote his new album.

The record, It Is a Time for Revolution, was released last week. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment on Monday.
