Hollywood writers are today back at work after calling off their strike. After 100 days manning picket lines members of the Writers' Guild of America have struck a new deal with producers. It means that the Oscars ceremony can now go ahead in 11 days and many of the most popular shows on TV can swing back into production.
Hollywood's biggest stars had threatened to boycott the Oscars ON February 24 if the strike was not resolved. "I am ecstatic that the 80th Academy Awards presentation can now proceed full steam ahead," Sid Ganis, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said.
Writers will now get a share of profits from shows on the Internet, as well as increased residuals on movies and shows downloaded on the Internet.
