Amy Winehouse’s husband lied about prison suicide bid

Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse's incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil lied about trying to kill himself in prison, it has been claimed.

In an extraordinary phone call Blake - who's currently locked up in London's Pentonville prison on assault charges - told Amy he was found unconscious in his cell – after failing to hang himself with a piece of clothing tied to his bed.

The singer - who gave an outstanding performance at the Grammy Awards last night - phoned pals in tears after Blake claimed he had tried to kill himself. But they persuaded her that she would have been informed by the prison if the suicide bid was real.

"Blake told Amy he had hanged himself in his cell. Now it seems it didn’t happen and she’s asking why he’d tell such an awful lie," a pal of Amy's told British newspaper The Sun.

It wasn't the first time Blake had raised the idea of suicide.

Blake, 25, told the 'Rehab' star that he was going to slit his wrists after they had a furious row before last year’s MOBO awards.

News of Blake’s latest stunt comes after a note emerged at the weekend, revealing his fear that Amy will try and divorce him.

The singer has been in a private London rehab clinic after a British tabloid exposed a video of her smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine. And he wrote from his North London jail cell: "Baby, oh darling. I’m so worried that now you’re thinking straight you’ll realise I’m not worthy of you."

The pal said: "He wants to pile on the guilt so she can’t leave him. He’s utterly controlling, even when behind bars."

Last night a prison insider said: "We can state 100 per cent that he has not been involved in any suicide attempt."

Amy left rehab on Friday to perform via satellite at last night’s US Grammys ceremony - where she swept the board in her categories picking up Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Song of the Year and two awards during the pre-broadcast presentation, in the categories of best pop vocal album for "Back to Black" and best female pop vocal. She picked up a total of five trophies.
