Actress Mischa Barton had smoked marijuana before her DUI arrest and had prescription drugs that did not belong to her, it was reported today. A breathalyser test also showed the former 'O.C." starlet had a blood alcohol level of 0.12, a police source told website TMZ.com.
The drink-drive limit for California is 0.08.
Mischa was arrested on suspicion of DUI, possession of drugs and driving on a suspended licence after being stopped in West Hollywood at 2.46am on Thursday morning.
A police report told how officers pulled over her SUV after seeing it "straddling two lanes of traffic" and failing to signal when making a turn.
The 21-year-old spent more than seven hours in police custody before she was released on $10,000 bail.
She is due in court on February 28.
Sheriff's Sgt John Hocking said in a statement Mischa was in possession of marijuana and an unidentified "controlled substance".
The West Hollywood police source told TMZ the London-born beauty had smoked marijuana before she was stopped by cops.
Despite her troubles, Mischa was still scheduled to host the opening of a Las Vegas nightclub tomorrow night.
She is best known for playing Marissa Cooper in hit US TV series "The O.C.". Her character was killed off in a car crash in 2006 and she has struggled to make a major movie breakthrough.
Mischa was born in Hammersmith, west London, but moved to New York with her family when she was four.
