The Texas songbird's movie career has stalled spectacularly, with her latest project bombing at cinemas.

Simpson's 'Blonde Ambition' movie was heading straight to DVD when studio bosses decided to give it a limited Christmas run.

The movie proved to be a festive turkey, taking just $1,322 in its opening weekend in eight Texas cinemas.

Simpson's next movie, 'Major Movie Star' is also now headed straight to DVD release, the New York Post reports.
