Thief steals car from under cops’ noses

A brazen thief stunned cops when he stole a car from under their noses - as cameras rolled.

The pictures show the jaw-dropping moment that police claim suspect Anthony Williams, 38, stole a vehicle that had been parked just feet away from them.

Local television cameras and police officers had been on the scene of a stabbing in Raleigh, North Carolina when they say a daring thief stole the car of a woman they were in the middle of talking to about the crime.

The woman - seen in the shots with her back to the camera - had stepped out of her Honda Accord to talk to an officer about the stabbing.

While her back is turned, a man in a black cap carrying a big stick walked past her, jumped into her car and drove off.

The officer can be seen banging on the bonnet of the car to try to get the man to stop but he got away.

It took cops an entire day to catch alleged thief Anthony Williams who police say had driven the vehicle across state lines to New Kent County, Virginia, almost 200 miles away.

Williams has now been charged with stealing the car and could face 10-years in jail.
